These classes bring the magic of J.K. Rowling's literature to life through teaching subjects and life skills that Harry, Hermione, and Ron would have learned! Students will create the art, science, and food from the world of Harry Potter. These spectacular classes are an awesome experience!

$145 per student- All materials and supplies will be provided. These classes use high-quality materials to give your student's work an authentic appearance.

Class Schedule

Class 1-

HoneydukesTrolley

Chocolate Frog Cookies from Platform 9 3/4

Once boarded on the Hogwarts Express, students have the option to buy Honeydukes treats on the trolley. This year, a special new item has arrived. A Chocolate Frog Cookie with gold embellishments and filled with magical croak-a. Delicious and jumpy, this vanilla cookie smothered in rich icing and chocolate frog is sure to please all of the students on their way to Hogwarts!

Skills Learned: Students will learn how to decorate and ice a large vanilla cookie with royal icing embellishments, luster dust, gumpaste, and a chocolate frog as the centerpiece. Students will be taught about safe food handling practices, cookie decorating techniques, and how to create

a beautiful and DELICIOUS treat.

Take Home: Students will take home their own decorated Chocolate Frog Cookie in a cookie box with a character card.

Class 2-

Care of Magical Creatures

Mysteries of the Phoenix

The mysterious nature and beauty of the noble Phoenix have transfixed wizards and witches for centuries. This rare magical creature has unspeakable abilities, including long life, healing tears, loyalty, and aiding others with similar devotion. There is so much to discover about this creature! Students will meet a Phoenix while learning how to capture its beauty in pastel.

Skills Learned: Students will study literary descriptions from J.K. Rowling to compare mythological creatures to living animals today. The class will learn fascinating zoology facts about bird anatomy while learning to draw a beautiful glowing phoenix with pastel.

Take Home: Students will take home their own certified Phoenix egg and feather keepsake. Students will take home their completed phoenix pastel artwork.

Class 3-

Potions

Philosopher's Stone
& Alchemy

Potions are an ancient and meticulous art using the power of plants and other compounds found in nature to create potions used in healing, spells, or other magical mischief.

In this potions class, students will shop for their potion ingredients and tools in the potions cabinets while learning to read detailed recipes, solve riddles, weigh ingredients, grind materials into powder, and use color-changing components to create the Elixir of Life potion used in the formulation of the philosopher's stone.

Skills Learned: Students will study lessons in historical references of early chemistry and alchemy and compare the work of J.K. Rowling's literature to the Elixir of Life. Students will learn about molecular gastronomy and basic chemistry as they use unique ingredients to formulate the potion. They will be taught how to read recipes, weigh, measure, and sequence their work so that it turns out just right.

Take Home: Students will take home their own Elixir of Life in a labeled potion bottle and a small Philosopher's Stone.

Class 4-

Flourish
And Blotts

Fine bookmakers
& sellers

The fabrication of excellent books has rested upon the shoulders of Flourish and Blotts for nearly 49 years. Students will come behind the scenes into the world of fine bookmakers to learn how magical and non-magical books are made for students at Hogwarts. Students will make their own fabric-bound book cover to grace the exterior of a flourish and Blotts-certified book.

Skills Learned: Students will study lessons in book making, including various methods in book binding and covers, fabric sleeves, and embellishments common to books of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Students will cover their own book with methods learned.

Take Home: Students will take home their own Flourish and Blotts book that they have constructed, covered, and embellished using traditional methods taught in class. Each book has a certification seal inside.
